Dan Petersen, based in the central valley of California,  gained recognition for his crystalline treatment of the Sierra mountain landscape. His watercolors reveal his fascination for the visual relationship of water and land as they make quiet contact.  He used an unusual resist technique to obtain sharp contours and a rich layering of color.
