PALMER, Samuel
Samuel Palmer (1805–1881) was a British artist who brought a deeply poetic and visionary quality to printmaking, particularly through his masterful etchings. Best known for his romantic, pastoral landscapes, Palmer used the medium to explore mood, atmosphere, and spiritual connection to nature. Influenced by William Blake and infused with his own mysticism, his prints feature rich textures, dramatic contrasts, and idyllic rural scenes bathed in twilight or moonlight. Though few in number, Palmer’s prints are celebrated for their emotional depth and technical finesse, securing his place as a key figure in the history of British Romantic printmaking.
