MUELLER, Otto
Otto Mueller (1874–1930), a German Expressionist associated with Die Brücke, brought a lyrical, introspective quality to printmaking. Working primarily in lithography, Mueller used soft lines and muted tones to depict nudes, gypsies, and natural landscapes with a dreamlike sensitivity. His prints are marked by a delicate balance between form and emotion, often emphasizing the harmony between humans and nature. Rejecting academic precision, Mueller embraced simplicity and texture, contributing a unique, poetic voice to early 20th-century printmaking and leaving a subtle yet enduring mark on German modernism.
