KLOSS, Gene
Gene Kloss was an American artist and printmaker celebrated for her richly atmospheric depictions of the American Southwest. Best known for her etchings and drypoints, she also worked in watercolor and other works on paper, drawing particular inspiration from the landscapes and cultures of New Mexico and northern California. Her compositions are distinguished by strong draftsmanship, dramatic contrasts of light and shadow, and a deeply felt sense of place. Across media, Kloss brought both technical refinement and emotional depth to her subjects, establishing her as an important figure in twentieth-century American printmaking.
