PETERSEN, Dan
Dan Petersen was a distinguished artist and dedicated educator born in Modesto, California. He attended Modesto City schools, including Modesto Junior College, where he would later build a notable career. He furthered his education at Southern California Bible College (Vanguard University) and completed his graduate work in Watercolor at San Jose State University.
After his studies, Dan returned to the Central Valley, initially teaching at Manteca High School. In 1963, he accepted a position as an Art Instructor at Modesto Junior College, embarking on a remarkable 40-year career. Throughout his tenure, he inspired and encouraged countless art enthusiasts, leaving a lasting impact on the community.
Dan was renowned for his masterful watercolor renderings of California’s landscapes. His depictions of the rolling foothills, the high Sierra, and the scenic coastline were celebrated for their fine craftsmanship and ethereal beauty. His work earned him numerous accolades, with participation in countless competitive shows and hundreds of awards.
