~ OTTO KUHLER ~

American (b. Germany) (1894-1977).

Kuhler's fascination with the steel industry began as a young boy in Germany, where he made drawings in the bustling and prosperous Kuhler Forges, founded by his great-grandfather. After he moved from Europe to Pittsburgh in 1923, he enjoyed considerable com-mercial success as an etcher of locomotives and industrial sub-jects. This watercolor was probably commissioned by a Pittsburgh steel company.
